A tiny camera has been surgically implanted to the back of a New York University (NYU) professor’s head – all in the name of art.
Visual artist Wafaa Bilal teaches at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He had the surgery for a project called The 3rd I. It’s been commissioned by a new museum in the Arab Gulf state of Qatar that opens December 30.
The Iraqi-born artist will wear the camera for a year and capture images at one-minute intervals that will be transmitted to monitors at the museum. He says details of the project will be revealed at a December 15 preview at the museum.
NYU is concerned about how the artwork will impact students. It says it’s talking with Bilal how best to protect privacy.

i don’t like: my tendency to try to control situations; the procrastinator in me; my ability to get really nasty when i’m stressed out or frustrated. as for what i do like: my talent at photography; being assertive in getting what i want out of my life; my style.

what an interesting question. hmmm. technically, i’m a human female made up of atoms, matter, synchronized by energies. from my perspective? i’m a person who likes the morbid, the surreal and the strange. i’m someone who is detached quite often, but submerged the times i am not. i feel like i’m underwater a lot of the time, if you know that feeling. i’m assertive and sometimes too blunt for my own good. i’m a ton of flaws held together by good intentions; i guess that explains it, ya?
i’m a human female who likes to take photos is the most simple answer i have for you.

thanks :) well, i listen to a lot of everything. lately it’s been foals, warpaint, coco rosie, nicki minaj, parachute, modest mouse (always modest mouse), radiohead and anberlin. i like weird shit too. not really into country, but i do like taylor swifts music and that one whiskey lullaby song.
